Kateryn has wanted to be a midwife since she was 17 years old. At the time, learning about midwifery felt like lifting a veil to a well-kept secret. It felt like magic. But true to the nature of callings, with time she has come to fully understand why she has always been destined to be with women.

Growing up as an Afro-Latina immigrant in the Bronx, from a big family of mostly women, Kateryn was surrounded by the power and resilience of women. So it was natural for her to become a midwife because midwifery is knowing women, being in awe of them, and passionately fighting against all the forces that threaten them.
