Umaimah Mahmud is a Brooklyn-based, New York State Licensed and Certified Midwife with a focus on creating safe, healthy spaces for safe, healthy physiologic birth experiences.

Umaimah was inspired by the care she received from her first homebirth midwife in 1996 -1997. The experience set her on a clear path, and she graduated with a Master of Science in Midwifery from SUNY Downstate in 2004. Keenly aware that birth is sacred- a fully empowering initiation into parenthood, Umaimah has served to honor it as such in a variety of spaces– hospitals, birth centers, private medical offices, community health clinics, and homes, from orthodox to Unconventional.

Umaimah has been a homebirth midwife since 2012. As an active celebrant of the miracle, the power, and the beauty of physiologic birth, Umaimah and her team will journey alongside you and your family from conception through six weeks postpartum, giving you the information, support, and care you'll need to feel fully empowered in your pregnancy and birthing experience.

Umaimah has had the honor and privilege of attending the births of nearly 1000 families! She is a mother to 3 brilliant humans, all born at home, attended by midwives.
