Luna Homebirth
Tania Zirulnik
About
I am a Peruvian-certified and licensed midwife who completed my education at the Universidad Mayor de San Marcos in Lima, Peru. At the age of 26, I moved beyond the hospital setting to pursue my passion for physiologic home birth. After settling in New York City, I founded Luna Homebirth in 2011, naming the practice after my maiden name, where I have had the privilege of supporting families through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and gynecologic care with a respectful, personalized, and holistic approach.
Becoming a mother through two home births—including the breech birth of my second daughter—profoundly shaped both my life and my practice. Those experiences deepened my understanding of birth and strengthened my commitment to providing compassionate, evidence-based care that honors each family's unique journey. As a bilingual (English/Spanish) Latina, I value caring for families from diverse cultural backgrounds and strive to create a safe, supportive space where they feel heard, respected, and empowered.
When I'm not supporting families, you'll most likely find me homeschooling my two daughters, tending to my garden in upstate New York, or kayaking and swimming in the lake with my family and dog Chico.
