Tanya Wills and Sarah Lovell are the two-midwife team behind Manhattan Birth — best friends known for bringing heartfelt, inclusive, down-to-earth care to families in the childbearing year. No purple crystals. Just two Yale-trained, deeply experienced midwives who genuinely love people, families, and this work.

Tanya is a Certified Nurse Midwife, Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. She founded Manhattan Birth after the birth of her first child in 2008, and has spent over a decade helping thousands of New York families birth, feed, and parent with confidence and humor.

Sarah is a Certified Nurse Midwife, Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, and Certified Lactation Counselor who has been part of the Manhattan Birth team since 2015. A fierce advocate for reproductive justice and inclusive care, she brings a special focus on LGBTQIA+ health and gender-affirming practice to the team. She’s also the person who will make you laugh when you need it most.

Together, they’ve built a practice rooted in the belief that people deserve care that meets them right where they are — curious, capable, and completely in charge of their own births. Tanya and Sarah are licensed and attend births in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, and show up as a team at every one: two midwives’ hands, hearts, and brains at every birth, with unlimited lactation support waiting on the other side.
